91% of plastic is never recycled

More than 350 million metric tons of plastic are produced each year.

The United States generates more plastic waste than any country in the world.

On March 28, 2023, the Breckenridge Town Council took a major step toward its material management goals with the passage of Ordinance 12-23 which phases out certain single-use plastics from food service ware and beverage containers. This Ordinance also aligns Breckenridge with new state regulations outlined in HB 21-1162, Management of Plastic Products.
